and yeah we did our job pretty well just like we were doin a big arena set. Drums and guitar solos, Eka and Bob jumping arround like maniacs and the crowd loved it! Sold a few CD’s and T-shirts and got an instant offer to play another show in Melbourne [too bad we can’t make it cos we’ll be in Tasmania]. After the show we continue the video shoot, this time went to some bridges and some fuck up underground alleys in Melbourne. We finished shooting arround 7 pm, went back to Rich’s house and stay a night there coz tomorrow morning we’ll do a 12 hours video shoot in Newport. The location is quite famous, some scenes in Ghost Rider and other famous movie was filmed in that area. Cant wait till we get there tomorrow!
October 15th
After a quick shower and breakfast,7 am we went to the location and tell you what, it was amazing! It’s in an old train yard from 1930’s with steam engine and it’s old machinery. The place has soul, that’s all we can say. Our crazy directors shot the video with tons of new equipment looks like we’re shooting for a movie. They wanted to make this video as cinematic as possible. The best scene from the shooting? It’s when we had to made our tour manager Footy to look and act like an alcoholic. The fact that Footy’s a Straight Edge just makes the story behind the video more interesting. We finished shooting at 7 pm, go back to Meadow Heights for a quick shower and jump right in the van again coz we’ve got dinner invitation from Pak’E the owner of Blok M restaurant Melbourne.
The dinner was fun, we turned the restaurant into a party hole, went home 12 pm with hats on everybody’s head, gifts from Pak’E, then went straight to bed [couch]. We’re settin up another party at Blok M next week. Tomorrow morning we’re off to Tasmania!
October 16th
We had a nice flight to Hobart -Tasmania, all of us were a bit worried about the cold weather [they say it can get 3 degree] but when we get there, we know we’ll be alrite.
We really enjoyed the view, Hobart is a beautiful small city with it’s amazing sights. Liam from Disconnect Records picked us up with his van and we went straight away to the venue. We’re playing in a pub called Irish Murphy’s. After loading the gear, we took some walk to get some food. Back at the venue round 8 pm, young local folk-punker Chris Burrows was on. This kid has potential. Then Disconnect Record’s young guns Your Demise burn the stage hard. The band were good but the crowd seemed really calm here. The local beer tasted good so we’re just hangin at our merchandise table with the unlimited beer supplies.
10 pm we’re on and after havin some problem with our backdrop, we’re on fire. We nailed it again and we didn’t see ‘calm’ crowd during our set. It was great. We sold a few CD’s and T-shirts [oh no, now we only have 5 t-shirts left to sell and it’s all XXL]. After some beer and pizza stops, we went to Disconnect Records office and crash at their living room/kitchen. Tomorrow’s no gig so we’ll just chill and maybe do some shopping.
October 18th
After a fun long day of shopping and hangin out with the amazing Disconnect Records crew, we woke up happy and smiley. Today we have gig in Launceston, 2,5 hours away from Hobart. After some nasi kuning lunch at Little Bali restaurant, Footy and Misha took us to Mount Wellington. It was really beautiful and the most unforgettable thing was, we finally see snow for the very first time! Snow fight! We couldn’t stay there too long coz it was too cold, so we’re off to Launceston. This time we went with a bigger van coz Disconnect crew’s comin and we also brought some PA’s and stuff.
We got to Launceston arround 6.30 pm and set up the equipment straight away. People are friendly here, some can speak Indonesian very well and they feed us with great pizzas and tons of beers [yeah, it’s confirmed we’ll come home to Bali with Aussie beer bellies]. Another good news, the venue got us hotel room this time. Finally, after 12 shows! Local metalcore villains Sunday Something Ruined started the show at 9 pm, then Mindset and Your Demise took over the stage. Crowd went berserk. Small city, good bands, god crowd. We hit the stage at 11 pm and whoa…big fun riot! We brought the house down, the mosh was crazy and it went really well. Bobby lost his microphone a few times. Haha. Everybody’s happy and after hangin out with local boys we went to the hotel.
Oh, nice bedrooms….we kinda miss it….
October 19th
Last gig in Tasmania, 10 am we’re already in the van on the way from Launceston to Hobart. Had some rest and went to Hobart city for some lunch. We’re doin an early all-ages show, it starts at 4 pm. After lunch we walked to the venue for another unlimited beer supplies but Bobby felt a bit sick so he slept in the van. Lots of Indonesians came today, so we hung out with them. We hit the stage round 6 pm and just right before we got to the stage, something unexpected happened. Bobby had a black out and suddenly collapse when he did some stretching. He was unconscious for about 10 seconds, we almost cancel the show but Bobby’s a true soldier he refuse to give up. He got up and continue the fight. Man, we’ve been beaten up, get stuff thrown at and been thru lots of ugly things on stage in Indonesia but we’ve never been so worried like this. The whole set me and Eka kept watching Bobby and pray nothing happen to him. Good thing, the crowd were being very supportive. We still managed to sell some CD’s and merchs. Finally after 6 songs Bobby gave up, he couldn’t take it anymore so we end it with Kuta Rock City. After the show the owner of Little Bali invited us for dinner. It was nice and casual. After dinner Bobby went to bed straight away. Me and Eka got kidnapped by Disconnect crew, they took us to the bar and we drank the whole bar! That night we were Elvis. Went home all messed up, hahaha, special thanx for all Disconnect Records crew: the two Mishas, Nick, Liam and Kenny. It’s a pleasure to spend some quality times with you guys and we will never forget your friendship…
