Made a quick trip to Sonia’s to drop off our bags, had a quick dinner [Sonia and Sadeg cooked us chicken potato roast, pizza and sambal Bali, hot as hell] and went back to the venue and got ready to bring the house down! And that we did. We had copious amounts of positive feed back after the gig. The most impressive feed back was confirmed by more than a hand full of people and later backed up by Stolen Youth that there usually is no mosh pit at this particular venue, but we had them going nuts. So Stolen Youth and S.I.D didn’t just bring the house down, we blew the dang roof off! S.I.D can’t thank Stolen Youth enough for this awesome tour so far, it has proven to be beyond anything we could of imagined. We should get them all tickets to Bali…..bus tickets ha ha ha.
October 12th
It’s the 5th anniversary of the first Bali bombing. May their souls still rest in peace.
We’ve been having good breakfast, listening to Tiger Army’s Music From Regions Beyond like a heroin addict while sleeping on the couch and things just getting better and better everyday in Melbourne. We’re playing at the legendary Espy. The weather’s below 5 degree Celsius and we’re playing with a street punk and two skinhead bands. We got there around 8 pm, talked to some of the punks and skins there and it was all good. They even lend us their drums, amplifiers and put us as the headline. It’s that good. No Nazi punks came that night. The weather put us in a position we had to choose between tequila or being freeze to dead, and of course you know the answer….tequila! After 10 shots and few stubbies, we hit the stage around 11.30 pm and it was chaos. Crowd went nuts, they mosh to the stage and the security had to calm them down. The monitor speakers was kicked all over the place. We brought 10 songs and this is what we got: We sold tons of CD and merch, Eka and Bobby got swollen lips from ‘kissing’ the microphone a bit too hard, our video guy Joe lost his cell phone on the mosh, some of our friends got into stupid fight but overall, it was a good nite. We went home with 9 people in Sonya’s dad’s van. It was hilarious, wait till you see it on our DVD….
October 13th
Early show today, we had to be at the venue 3.30 pm. It was at Fitzroy skatepark, Melbourne. Not as cold as yesterday but this outdoor show was kinda illegall, and in this situation we’ll never know what’s coming next.
We were playing with hardcore/punk bands, mostly from the local straight edge scene.
Good news, we sold our merch and CD even before we set up the merch table. We played around 5 pm and we brought it hard. Eka was a bit sick but he delivered a real good performance, jumping like a horse on acid. We also did some filming for our new clip ‘Goodbye Whiskey’ with Richie and Dale from Outsider Film Melbourne [they did a few video for us while they were in Bali; White Town, Muka Tebal and Rock n Roll Band].
But the nightmare came right before the last song ‘Kuta Rock City’…..the police and the city council came to stop the show! While our tour manager Footy negotiate with them, we were packing all our gear. It ain’t fun to get deported in the mid of the tour, you know. So ya, the show gotta stop. We were just hangin out at the skate park with our friends, shared a bottle of whiskey and a couple of spliff. It’s Kus’ last nite in Australia, he’s goin back to Bali tomorrow morning and it was also Joe’s and the boys from Stolen Youth’s last night with us, they had to go back to Adelaide tomorrow. After a few weeks being together thru the good times and the bad, from one van to another couch, one thing we know for sure, we will miss those guys a lot. Thanx for looking after us, for protecting us and for the real brotherhood. It’s been amazing…..
